Shantung silk

Shantung is a silk with character — woven from raw, unprocessed yarn that gives the fabric its distinctive irregular texture and matte, understated lustre. A shantung tie, at first glance, may seem unusually textured — those irregularities are not a flaw. They are the essence of what makes shantung so exceptional. Handmade at our tailoring atelier in Warsaw from Italian fabrics. Craftsmanship and design at the highest level.

Shantung – silk with a history

The Chinese province of Shandong has been producing shantung for centuries — a heavier type of silk made from raw yarn that undergoes far less processing than the smooth silk most commonly used in garments today. The result is a fabric with a pronounced, tactile texture — tiny slubs running through the weave that catch the light differently at every angle. Historically used for suits, wedding dresses and sarees, shantung has been rediscovered as an exceptional material for ties, sitting naturally between a casual knit tie and a formal classic silk tie.

Silk. Italy. Warsaw.

Our shantung ties are completely hand-sewn and finished at our tailoring atelier in Warsaw. We use only the highest quality shantung from Italian mills, finishing each tie with silk thread — stronger and more refined than any synthetic alternative. The interior is filled with natural cotton, ensuring the tie holds its shape and drapes beautifully throughout the day.

A collection for the discerning

In our collection you will find shantung ties in solid colours — where the fabric's natural texture does all the talking — as well as striped models and classic polka dot patterns, each of which reveals a new dimension of shantung's unique character.
