Knitted silk

A silk knit tie operates by its own rules — rather than a woven structure, the silk here is knitted, yielding a softness and texture unavailable in any other cloth. Available at the Tiestore.pl tailoring atelier, which is active in Warsaw for nearly 30 years, our silk knits are defined by the characteristic square tip and solid colours that let the fabric speak entirely for itself. For the man who understands the difference between elegance and its imitation.

The knit tie — what sets it apart

A knit tie differs from a classic woven tie at the level of fabric construction itself. Rather than interlacing warp and weft threads on a loom, the silk is knitted — as a sweater is, but with the precision and fineness that silk demands. The result is a fabric with a pronounced, subtly textured surface that reflects light differently from a smooth jacquard or a printed twill. A knit tie has natural body and softness to the hand, and its square tip — as opposed to the classic pointed blade — is the defining mark of the form, not an incidental detail.

Knitted silk — material and character

Silk in knitted form retains all its natural qualities — its fineness, its sheen and its temperature-regulating properties — while gaining the softness and resilience characteristic of knitwear. A silk knit tie is lighter in wear than its woven equivalent and less prone to creasing through the day. The solid colour palette of the Tiestore.pl collection — navy, burgundy, black, bottle green, grey — makes the knit tie as at home with checked and striped suits as it is with plain jackets.

How to wear a knit tie

The knit tie belongs to the same family as grenadine — both are solid-coloured, both owe their appeal entirely to texture rather than pattern, and both are worn with a degree of studied nonchalance. A four-in-hand knot — small, slightly asymmetrical — is the most appropriate here. The knit tie works well with oxford and twill shirts, with flannel and tweed suits, and in smart casual dressing where the tie is the sole concession to formality.

The collection and bespoke orders

Five colours are available in the Tiestore.pl silk knit collection — navy, burgundy, black, bottle green and grey — in standard width and length. The atelier will make a silk knit tie in a non-standard size or colour on individual commission. Craft and design at the highest level.
